The Happiness Minute started out as a series of weekly podcasts designed to help people train their minds that happiness can be developed into a habit, just like all those bad habits we already have but wish we didn’t – like overeating, smoking, drinking, shopping, and so on.

Joy, and fulfillment together with love, peace, freedom, harmony and happiness certainly are for everyone. We just have to shake off a few twisted ideas that we actually know are false, and yet insanely continually trying to prove true!

  • Like “things” will make us happy.
  • Like only “other” people can be happy.
  • Like you have to be born with a “happy gene.”
  • Like all those other myths.

Listen carefully: YOU Can Be Happy! I promise!

Start Where You Are

It takes some effort, but it’s easy. This is where you can start. Read and listen to these short Happiness Minutes. Take them to heart. Build one or more of the ideas or concepts mentioned into your life.

The great thing is that you can start from wherever you are in your life right now. It doesn’t matter what your personal circumstances. You could be living on the street or in a mansion; you could be a teetotaler or an addict; you could be law-abiding or a criminal. None of this matters. Start right there, wherever “there” is. The key is to start!

A Single Step

As Lao Tsu said 2500 years ago, “A journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step.” Do one thing today to move yourself towards the happiness you desire. Then tomorrow, or next week, do one more…then another, and another.

If you really want happiness for life, that’s how it starts. One step at a time. Developing persistence, developing happiness. Becoming the person you wish to be.

I Was An Unhappy Child

You can have it. I know, because I started out as a very unhappy little boy. Just look at the little guy on the right. That was me at eight or nine. Through a fortunate series of circumstances, I managed to avoid becoming the sociopath I could have become. How did I do it? By learning exactly the things I talk about in these Happiness Minutes. If you’d like to read more about my childhood secret, here’s a link to the story.

Every week or so, I’ll be posting a Happiness Minute. Some will be new; most will be from the two years of podcasts already tried and tested. Sign up to be notified whenever a new one is posted using the RSS feed form below. I encourage you to post comments – whether you agree or disagree with what I say, I’m interested to hear what you have to say.

Just for today, be happy.
